Our Wine - Vineyard

Every step of the way, the wines at LedaSwan are fashioned by hand. From the first budburst of Spring to the final pruning in grey Winter, the organic vineyard (where beautiful wine begins) is carefully tended by Duncan.

Because the LedaSwan vineyard is managed using organic principles of viticulture, no pesticides or herbicidal chemicals are used on or around the vines and the vines are not artificially fertilised.

We do not use irrigation, allowing the vines root system to naturally form and grow to great depth to seek the water they need.

Everything is done by hand; from pruning to most importantly the picking of the fruit in late summer; this means there are no machine battered vines or wines at LedaSwan – you could say that we are happy producers of “free range” wines.

This is not quite as difficult as it sounds, as LedaSwan is sited on 7 acres, comprising of 33 vine rows of which 9 are Shiraz, 6 of Muscat, 3 of Verdelho, 4 of Chardonnay, 3 Chenin Blanc 3 PX and a row of Muscadelle – but it is work aplenty for a small team.
